Every weekday as opposed to Fridays only, but only for the school holidays.

    • Is there fish and chips any good?

      • +1

Depends if you get a fresh batch…I once was unlucky and they scooped the last fish. Had to wait for them to cook a new batch. By the time that happened, the chips, first piece of fish and peas were cold! Should have asked for a new batch instead.

        • I c thanks, thats unlucky, omg hot chips are the best when straight from the fryer. Oh peas with fish and chips is a nice twist. Speaking of peas, the ikea is mainly quiet but just accross the road at harrys with the peas with con carne etc hot dog is a lot busier,

      • I have never had IKEA food, it just never happened.

        • Do you ever try things just out of curiosity sometimes

          • @ATTS: I do, but I don't really shop there and it's on the other side of town.

      • +1

The ones I had were a bit meh? The meatballs are probably the best.

        • Thanks man

          • @ATTS: No probs. The fish isn’t terrible it just isn’t fish and chip shop quality.

      • They were pretty solid when I went a few weeks ago. I don't know how they did it but the chips had a great crunch to them.

        • Thanks man,

      • I was surprised, they were actually fairly good, especially given the price!

        • Thanks man, hope its good when i try

    • Is Fridays still on at the moment?

      • I was at IKEA Richmond last Friday and they had advertisements up for the half price meals if you are a member, so I would assume so. :)

Last time I went there for Friday 50% main meals:

    8 meatballs $12.50
    12 meatballs $16
    16 meatballs $19.50

Those were the actual price. And I choose 16 meatballs and for some reason upon checkout, even cancelling it and redoing it. The price was not 50% Off. They inputted 8 meatballs + 4 meatballs and mashed potato. Total $11.50 (Which ain’t 50% Off)

In hindsight just try to organise your plates to 8 meatballs on one plate, and 8 on the other. As upon checkout they try to rip you off, even after complaining politely and redoing payment.

The reason is, at the kitchen they gave me 12 meatballs on the main plate and a smaller plate with 4 meatballs which mostly confused the checkout staff.

What meant to be $9.75 total became $11.50 for confusion…

sounds like they mashed/balled up your order

        This is my receipt invoice

I don’t know what happened but next time I will place all the meatballs onto 1 plate. And give back the smaller plate to the kitchen.

        • Went in today and got the 16-ball for 1/2 price. They might have updated it.

    • Went last week and asked for 16 meatballs, they said 16 is excluded from half price promo - only 8 and 12 were half price

      • Op not getting half price for the extra balls as showing in the receipt, while today I got it for exact $9.25.

They might have changed the promotion or fixed the glitched.

Not all are discounted. I ordered veg balls lastime and they weren't 50% off!

    Awesome 🤩

Whoever was in charge of that webpage must've been from accounting or the developer. Show some photos of food and prices of discounts! 11MB and 20MB to download stock photo of people eating at the cafeteria… WTH IKEA?! Appealing to families they're so out of touch!

Be nice if the west of Melbourne got an IKEA

  • When are they bring back eat your discount?

  • I prefer Corelle.

  • +3

Every time I go Costco or IKEA the food courts are packed to the rim, wasn’t as bad 2-3 years ago. People are doing it tough it seems.

  • Finally someone doing something about the rising cost of living, and it’s a foreign multinational.

  • +1

Just curious. Are they struggling? They have been running a lot of discount from last several months

    Lovely Swedish family

  • +2

Looks like meat(balls) is back on the menu boys

  • Do they still serve their horse meat delicacy?

    • Apparently Tescos was part of the horse meat in the lasagne scandal in the UK. When they found Richard the 3rds skeleton under a Tesco car park one of the English comedians said. “I see he found that horse he was looking for.”.

      • Good one

      • European Scandal:
In 2013, authorities in the Czech Republic found horse DNA in IKEA meatballs that were labeled as beef and pork.
        IKEA's Response:
IKEA withdrew the affected meatballs from sale in Europe and some other international markets.

    • I don't wanna eat horses, but I swear the meatballs tasted better before the horse meat scandal forced a change of supplier

  • So which vegetarian options are actually half price?

    • +4

      Plant balls.

      • I'm vegetarian and am not a fan of the plant balls (meaty taste/texture) so that's disappointing.. thanks for the heads up

  • Just visited over the weekend and was a bit surprised to see even fewer staff working, both in the food section and at the cafe. But what really threw me off was the use of disposable plates and cutlery. No way they’re doing that badly, right?

Anyone know if this is just a store-specific thing, an Australia-wide change, or part of a global IKEA standard?

    • How do we know if it's a store-specific thing if you don't tell us what store you saw this at?

      • Damn, my bad, it was ikea Rhodes

    • Ikea Springvale has the usual washable plates, cups, cutlery.

  • Been there few time stocking up on LADDA. Taking the 2 almost 3 year old with me and lunch together. He loves the meatballs (and the escalators). They also missed the 50% off last Friday we went when it was on. If we go on school holiday it won't be on a rainy day. Guess most people go there if so.

  • Not advertising/showing half pricing on the LCD menu but the staff said yes and can confirm I got salon and meatball meals for half the price.

  • anyone able to eat the lambs? It's never there for dinner seems :(

    • Yes, tried it at Springvale for dinner tonight - the entire store was very quiet.
It was a small portion (so I don't think I'd want to pay full price) but it was quite tasty.
