Not happy with the durability from last purchase.

Have you had better luck with other brands? The lack of TM Lewin these days has definitely left a void

      • +3

        TM Lewin is back btw

        • +2

Was handy when they had a physical store in BNE, could actually look and try on stuff. Internet clothes shopping is pretty hit and miss.

          TM Lewin > CT

        • To an extent - 4 shirts for 160 gbp inc vat is on the UK site which works out to about $350. Change it over to Australia and I'm looking at $450 - both have free delivery. Based on how well the previous shirts I had lasted I honestly wouldnt be against ~$80-90 per shirt (the previous pricing of <$50/shirt was too cheap) but >$100 each feels steep - MJ Bale shirts start at around this price.

@antmcbane: I prefer my TM Lewin shirts over MJ Bale. They are the best shirts I've ever owned, the price was a bonus. Each to their own but my next big shop for shirts will likely be with TM Lewin.

@antmcbane: Yeah that's too much, weren't they 3 for $99 or something. Edit: checked my email, ordered some CT shirts 2015, $39.95 and free shipping from UK. They were good but had no shape just straight.

better off getting some shirts tailored in Thailand or Bali for less if you are going over there.

MJ Bale are good on sale, CK used to have good business shirts at the outlets too.

          • @antmcbane: I have bought MJ bale from DFO for about $50 per shirt and they are ok quality. Never had TM Levins though.

        • +2

I've been meaning to see what the new quality is like since they restructured and reopened.

The TM Lewins I bought back in 2018 and 2019 still look brand new. They've been through hundreds of wears and well over 100 washes each.

I've never found a better quality fabric than TN Lewin was using. Most everything I've bought post 2020 (i.e., Charles Tyrwhitt, MJ Bale, PJs) all look premium but after a few washes and wears just turn to crud.

Yet my TM Lewins continue to power on.

        • +3

How do TM Lewin fit? I always buy the extra slim CT shirts despite absolutely not being an extra slim person and they're still amazingly baggy.

      • +2

Agreed, had much better experience with TM lewin.

    • +5

Totally agree! The quality has gone downhill

      • +2

How much? I need new shirts as my 10yo tm lewin are failing, the 5 yo charles tyrwhitt are too big now I've lost weight so need to replace, is there anything better thats non iron fitted cotton at 3 for 135?

        • +1

Their shirts are supposed to be cotton. But the last three shirts I bought are more like plastic. I have been buying their shirts for almost 10 years now!
          Very disappointed!

    • +3

Same. Not saying they are ‘bad’ but they are noticeably a step down from when I last bought pre covid. One visible way is that a couple of the shirts have had the collar stay slightly tear the inside collar enclosure. Never happened on my older shirts.

White shirts also look a touch thin after a handful of washes. Not as noticeable on other colours to be fair.

      • Yeah the shirts I bought nine months ago have all had the collar split. It's a shame because I used to swear by these shirts for the last 10 years but they've definitely dropped off in quality.

    • Oh, what happened?

Does it feel better thinner? Poor quality sewing?

Or just after a number of washes it doesn't look right?

Used to have heaps from a few years ago, eventually got rid of them all, and was looking to stock up again.

Better off spending the extra $10 for a Rodd & Gunn polos (when buying two, multibuy offer runs all year).

  • +1

Their non iron chinos are superb. Best I've owned.

    • How does theit chino sizing run? Baggy or fitted?

      • +2

I get the extra slim and they feel like a normal tailored fit to me.

Agree that they are the best chinos going though.
        Ridiculously comfortable and durable.

      • Exactly as pauly85 said.

  • +4

Been buying their shirts for years but found a massive step down in quality the last time i purchased…

    • Please explain what was different.

Was planning to place a larger order!

        • Hmmmm. Thanks for sharing.

Was planning to get the non iron twill shirst (supposedly cotton).

          Not the poplin ones.

Are the ones you got the twill ones?

I called them and they said we can return orders for $9.95, or exchange products for free. Would be good to know which range was disappointing. Thanks

Quality has dipped, some shirts are still okay but you're taking a risk.

  • I noticed recently pit stains (deodorant) being much more significant than former years

  • how long do they take to arrive? any idea? need em for coming Thursday

    • Usually about 10 days for me in metro Perth

    • I've had mixed success but usually at least a week. I doubt you would get it by Thursday.

  • +2

I did my first CT order recently after my old TMs died. Not sure how the quality used to be, but I got some herringbone and oxford shirts and I'm happy with the quality, especially the oxford. I will say, the fit is a bit baggier than I'd like, the extra slim are too bulky to wear under a suit jacket for me.

I miss when you could get 3 shirts for $99.

  • Usually buy Van Heusen so should be interesting how they compare. Have purchased 3 business shirts.

    • Even with their supposed drop in quality (I'm still on the fence, I agree they probably have dropped a little), I rate these above Van Heusen for sure.

      • +2

        Thanks for the advice Gina.

    • They used to be MUCH BETTER than Van Heusen.
But my last purchase is pretty much on par with Van Heusen.

  • I know CW is a good brand but it's getting too exxy, ay! Used to buy 3 for $90 (or was it $99) and free shipping not too long ago.

  • +2

To all those who have purchased their chinos, how do they compare to country road ones? In terms of fit and quality.

    • They sound alright, would like to know too.
Chinos vary wildly, plenty around but it's still a punt if you can't try them on (and I assume no free returns). Would be better finding something from iconic.

I got the CR ones but don't really rate them. The cut is a bit off, could use more stretch, bit tight in the thigh then not skinny enough from knee down. Everyone is different though.

  • +2

Used to buy regularly from them. But quality went to shit, the last straw was the polo shirts which are absolute poor fitting low quality garbage
